The Roadtrip project, an EU initiative meant to introduce 8 young europeans to EU funded projects as well as beautiful places far from home, started their Baltic Route on 25.7. in Rovaniemi Finland.
As part of the route, the Baltic team of the project, consisting of 23-years old Luna from Spain and 22-years old Achilleas from Greece, a producer and two professional photographers, just had a stop in Helsinki. During the stop, they made a detour to visit one of the localities Central Baltic project LightsOn! is developing into a tourist attraction: Vallisaari.
In Vallisaari the duo, tried out the Augmented Reality game that the the project launched this summer and according to LightsOn! representative Nina Luostarinen, they had a lot of fun doing it. The game, being based on actual historical facts, figures and details e.g. historic figures, the real color of animals, the real cloths and styles that that were used back then - who knew hat pigs were black and not pink back then - provided entertainement as well as a source of historical information for the two Roadtripper, who gave visibility to the game in their weekly vlog. The vlog, who reached on the Roadtrip project facebook page more than 300.000 views so far, provided LightsOn! with a big platform to showcase their product across Europe and to possibly inspire other organisations to use a similar idea to bring some topics alive.
The LightsOn! augmented reality game can be downloaded for free both from Google Play and the App store. The game can be played only when visiting the one/all the localities that LightsOn! is developing into attractive tourist destination.
