The Central Baltic Programme 2014-2020 finances result orientated cross-border cooperation projects in Estonia, Finland (incl Åland), Latvia and Sweden

Stories about cross-border cooperation in the CB region

Thursday, February 22, 2018 - 14:45

Stories and interviews available in the project database

The programme has had three calls that have resulted in almost 100 projects in all Priorities and Specific Objectives. Last year, ten projects ended already and the number is even bigger in 2018. To summarise: we are running at full-speed – jointly tackling cross-border challenges and creating concrete results.

To show how we are improving the programme region with EU funding, we have approached our projects communication-wise to learn about the methods, results and people. Now the project database has been brought up-to-speed to display the collected stories and interviews. To get us started, we have published an interesting variety of articles that showcase our projects from different angles. Most of the content in English, although certain articles are available in local languages as well.

Overview of the current content

How can un-used industrial lands be utilised more efficiently and what kind of tools are needed for this? Read how a 3D visualisation tool developed by Baltic Urban Lab can help to analyse them.

How can campus design be improved to bridge the link between universities, enterprises and citizens? Read about the Live Baltic Campus’ pilot area in Helsinki.

The archipelagos of Sweden and Finland (including Åland) have the same challenge: young people move away from the islands to study, and young families won’t easily settle. Discover how these challenges are tackled by creating new business models and businesses in the archipelago areas within the Archipelago Partnerships project.

Eastern part of Gulf of Finland has stayed aside from the routes and seaways of boaters and sailors, even though they are unique coastal areas even on a global scale. Learn how this challenge is addressed by 30Miles through creating a network of high-quality guest harbours to the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland.

Projects working together? This is taking place as well. Read about the synergies between three of our tourism projects DefenceArch, LightsOn! and St Olav Waterway.

Projects are ending. In fact, last year ten of our projects ended already. We talked with the project managers of the first and second projects that ended: Let Us Be Active! And EDU-SMEs.

What can you expect to see in the future?

Our main intent is to showcase the results our projects, how they are achieving them and the people connected to the projects. We are also interested in project synergies and displaying the end-users of projects.
