Thursday, May 21, 2015 - 13:40
The Central Baltic Programme's annual event held on 19 May gathered 130 people to Riga and the same amount of online viewers to hear about Interreg cooperation.
The interesting day consisted of presentations tying the Central Baltic Programme to its background strategies of Interreg and the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. Head of Unit Agnès Monfret from the European Commission and Project Coordinator Baiba Liepa from Interact did a great job and got many praising comments from the participants on having done an excellent job in telling about the strategic goals of Interreg cooperation and in tying it to our Baltic Sea regional context.
After the focus on the strategic backbones four concrete success examples of Interreg cross-border cooperation were presented by the Estonia-Latvia, Latvia-Lithuania and South Baltic Programmes as well as a project representative Olof Bratthall from the Swedish Police telling about their participation in the project Safe Baltic Cruises during the previous programme period. The presented examples gave a very nice and tangible touch to the event.
The afternoon part of the day turned the looks into the future and in building well-functioning partnerships for the now ongoing perdiod of Interreg. EU Projects Content Coordinator Stuart Simpson from the Vienna Board of Education made an entertaining presentation on how partnerships are build to work and last, and involved the participants in finding new connections amongst each other. The introduced tools are certainly ones that everyone can use in any type of work, be it a project or other type of cooperation. The session also got the audience to laugh and relax after the interesting but intensive presentations, which was a perfect way to end the enjoyable and fruitful day on looking at Interreg cooperation from many different angles.
Thank you to all participants in Riga and online. We hope to have new similar good days with you in the future.
The presentations are uploaded to the programme website and video recordings can be found on our Youtube channel:
