Current state of play and plans for 2016 discussed at the programme Monitoring Committee

The programme Monitoring Committee consisting of Member State representatives held its meeting on 10-11 November in Geta, Northern Åland.
The programme is in full speed with its implementation and 2016 will be an active year of assessing applications, supporting and promoting the running projects as well as consulting and guiding applicants of the next call in early 2017. Everyone interested in seeing all of this happen is welcomed to take part in the programme's annual event in Uppsala, Sweden, during week 16 in April. The week can be pre-booked in calendars already now and more information will follow soon.
Besides approving the work plan and budget for 2016, the Monitoring Committee discussed the slightly uneven participation of project partners from the countries. Despite the active marketing of the programme in Sweden, it is statistically visible at this moment in the programme implementation that more Swedish participation in projects would bring the situation to a better balance.
Another topical issue raised up in the meeting was the ability of the Central Baltic Programme to react to the migration crisis currently affecting whole Europe. The programme welcomes project applications helping to minimise integration obstacles in a cross-border manner namely under its fourth priority "Skilled and socially inclusive region" and hopes that organisations dealing with related issues will consider the programme a potential funding source.
The meeting with many interesting and constructive discussions showed strong commitment of the Member States to the implementation of the programme. Thank you to all who participated.
